Winterbrook House are committed to supporting our residents to remain with us as long we can care for them both safely and to our high standard of care.
Therefore it is a priority to have clear guidelines in place for palliative care, when it is considered that a person has a limited time left to live. We will ensure that throughout this sensitive time, the family is consulted, where possible, to assist with decisions being taken in accordance with the client’s needs and wishes.
These wishes are regularly reviewed and initial choices can always be revised, if necessary, if circumstances change. Sensitive and respectful communication will always take place between staff and both the dying person and those identified as important to them.
A revised Care Plan will include appropriate nourishment, symptom control and psychological, social and spiritual support for the client.
